The third article in a 5-part series has just been posted to my In Control blog on Psychology Today. You can find it here: In the article I argue that our ability to conceptualise mental disorder is severely constrained because we have never spent time defining what “normal” is. Understanding what is disordered must surely be based on an understanding of what ordered is. In a sense, we need to go “back to basics” and understanding day to day functioning from the perspective of control might help us to do that.
